Intensive Structured Literacy Tutoring for Students in Grades K–12

Your Child Is Capable. More Intensive Instruction May Help Them Move Forward.

Launch Literacy provides a concentrated 40-session cycle designed to strengthen foundational skills, help students apply those skills in connected text, and build momentum when more frequent instruction is needed.

What Is Launch Literacy?

Launch Literacy is a comprehensive and integrated structured literacy program for students who are significantly behind in reading and need more frequent, and intensive individualized support.

Students receive four 50-minute, one-to-one sessions each week for 10 weeks. Instruction is explicit, systematic, carefully sequenced, and adjusted to the student’s current skills and learning needs.

Lessons build foundational reading and spelling skills while helping students apply those skills in connected reading and writing. Depending on the student’s age and needs, instruction may also include fluency, vocabulary, morphology, comprehension, sentence development, and essay writing.

Launch Literacy may be a strong fit for students who:

  • Are significantly behind in reading and need accelerated, intensive instruction.
  • Struggle with more than just decoding and need support in multiple areas of reading, including fluency, vocabulary, language, comprehension, and writing.
  • Have made limited progress with previous instruction
  • Are older and have less time to close foundational skill gaps
  • Need age-respectful materials matched to their reading level

Many of these students are bright, thoughtful, and full of ideas, but reading difficulty has made it harder for them to show what they know. More intensive instruction can help students build the skills they need to fully demonstrate the capable, curious learners they are.

Why Families Choose Launch Literacy

Intensive Instruction with Clear Progress Markers

Launch Literacy provides a concentrated 40-session cycle designed to help students practice consistently, build momentum, and apply new skills in meaningful reading and writing.

Students work with age-appropriate materials that meet them at their current reading level while respecting their interests, ideas, and maturity.

The LAUNCH Forward Framework

Locate the need
Identify the student’s strengths, skill gaps, and instructional priorities.

Address the foundations
Build the reading and spelling skills that are limiting progress.

Use intensive practice
Meet four days each week for frequent instruction and reinforcement.

Nurture automaticity
Develop greater accuracy, efficiency, and fluency through repeated practice.

Connect skills to text
Apply developing skills in connected reading, comprehension, and writing.

Head forward with confidence
Review progress and create a clear plan for what comes next.

This concentrated approach gives students repeated opportunities to experience success and recognize their own growth. As reading becomes more manageable, students may begin to participate more fully, take greater risks, and reconnect with the capable learners they have always been.

What to Expect

We begin with a conversation about your child’s reading history, strengths, current challenges, and goals. This helps us determine whether Launch Literacy is the right fit and identify an appropriate starting point.

Your child then begins a 10-week cycle of individualized instruction, meeting four days each week for 50-minute sessions. Teaching is adjusted based on how your child responds and the skills that need continued attention.

How progress is measured:

  • A starting-point assessment
  • Weekly Fluency Checkpoints
  • Ongoing observation of skill development
  • Progress reviews during the 40-session cycle
  • An end-of-cycle review and next-step plan

Weekly Fluency Checkpoints: Each week, students complete a short timed reading so we can monitor fluency growth and track progress over time.

Launch Literacy does not guarantee that every student will be reading at grade level after 40 sessions. It does provide a clear cycle of skilled instruction, visible markers of progress, and a plan for what comes next.

The goal is not only stronger reading, spelling, and writing. It is for students to experience themselves again as capable learners whose abilities are no longer hidden by reading difficulty.

Is Launch Literacy the Right Path for Your Child?

Choosing reading support can feel especially urgent when your child is significantly behind, has already received tutoring, or is growing older without making enough progress.

More Than One Way Forward

Families come to Blosser at different points in their child’s reading journey. We help them understand what may be getting in the way, identify the right next step, and find support matched to their child’s needs.

Depending on where your child is in their reading journey, that way forward may begin with:

  • Reading assessments and guidance on next steps
  • Orton-Gillingham and intensive structured literacy tutoring
  • Individualized support for students with dyslexia and other reading difficulties
  • Summer reading programs
  • Free educational programs for parents and educators
  • Trusted information about dyslexia, neurodiversity, and reading development

Reading difficulty does not define a child’s potential. Whether the next step is assessment, sustained Orton-Gillingham instruction, an intensive structured literacy program, or clearer guidance for the family, Blosser helps build a path forward.
